Song of the Day: Yesterday - One by U2

This was supposed to be the song of yesterday but I couldn't figure out how to buy a song on my phone from the train...and once in....too much to do. The funny thing is I read about this song in a book, Little Bee, by Chris Cleeve and I remembered having it and thinking this is an uplifting song of the oneness of humankind, so then I get to work buy it and somewhere around the 3rd listen I am like...what is this guy saying?!  Turns out I think Bono is telling his wife he had an affair and she should get over it...better yet he blames some of it on her...."Did I ask too much? more than a lot. You gave me nothing and that's all I got." Nice.  ....kids like the rock bombast though...Lila this morning..."Can we play more music Mama? I like that one."

The Price We Pay for Guns

This is so true. Excerpted from Jane Smiley's Blog: Some years ago, I was talking to a man about guns. At the time, I didn't really know anyone with guns (still don't), but he did. He had had guns himself. He said, "I gave my gun away, because when I had it, every time something happened that made me mad, my mind would start circling around that gun, and I would be thinking about using it. So I got rid of it and I'm glad I did. " Right up front I will say that I am opposed to casual gun ownership, but I also realize that Americans will always have guns. Period. It's a national fetish. But the mental state my interlocutor was describing years ago is the price we have to pay, along with, of course, the accidental deaths of children and other unprepared and careless people who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and in proximity to the wrong gun. Obama beats McCain on Taxes

This chart is from CNN. The median income in the US is $40,000. 80% of all households make below $100,000. That means that for 80% of the country Obama will lower their taxes. Shouldn't that mean that Obama will win by 80%? Also look at th 2.9million number. McCain lowers their taxes and Obama taxes them more. Those that have should help those that don't.
